How to get to Quinta dos Sorrisos

From Faro’s airport (FAO; Gago Coutinho Airport)

The national road N125 is the shortest way to come to QdS from the FAO airport (about 26 km) and Faro (20 km).

Driving through the airport area and on its big roundabout, follow the signs for Faro and the blue sign for the motorway A22.

When on the road N125, drive to Olhão which is approximately 12 km away. Continue driving straight through Olhão, following signs for Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António. From Olhão, it is around 10 km to Alfandanga‘s crossroad and traffic light where you can either turn right to Fuseta or left to Moncarapacho (or continue straight to Tavira). Turn left and drive straight to the only traffic light in Moncarapacho (approximately 3,5 km).

At the traffic light, turn right, pass the supermarket Algarsuper, drive straight for about 1 km to the crossroad with a small sign for Gião. There you turn right and drive through the sprawling village with few houses by the road. After approximately 900 m, you'll see our property on the left side of the road, with a long white wall.

Our house number 1011M is clearly marked on the wall, next to our rusted iron gate. The bell is below the house number. And the white wall with rusted iron panels continues along the road M1335…

Arriving by the A22 motorway

Arriving from whichever direction by A22, take the exit number 15 for Olhão/Moncarapacho and follow the signs for Moncarapacho. After a bit more than 2 km, before entering Moncarapacho, there’s a crossroad with a sign for Fuseta on your left. Follow that sign, turn left and drive to the only traffic light in Moncarapacho (about 1 km).

Important remark:

As the A22 motorway has electronic tolls only, you need to have transponder to pay them (or another solution for paying tolls in Portugal which are thoroughly explained on Portugal Tolls).

These directions are the most straight forward for people visiting the area for the first time and without the help of GPS.

Once at ours, you will quickly learn the shortest ways from and to ours, either by car or bike.

Arriving by N125 from Spain/Tavira

Continue the N125 for about 12 km to Alfandanga‘s crossroad and traffic light where you can either turn left to Fuseta or right to Moncarapacho (or continue straight to Olhão).
